Valle de la Luna
Date: 17 January 2016
Location: Valle de la Luna, Atacama Desert, Chile
The first place we went to after we picked up our Wicked camper was Valle de la Luna, which means valley of the moons. It wasn't a place that was at the top of our agenda and we did nearly write it off when we looked into it from Australia. But of course, since we are here in the Atacama desert and it was the right time of the day (early evening) we decided to visit it. I mean, it was hardly far from the main part of town. And boy are we glad that we didn't skimp out on going… It was pretty amazing. And pretty soon into our drive we realised why everyone went during the early evening. For the light and the sunset over the red valley!
We didn't really know what we were in for and just stopped where all the other cars had stopped. Which meant we felt like we were caving in converse and in the dark in our first stop. It was pretty cool… We started to walk through some rock formations and then basically ended up walking in the pitch dark through a cave… That was until we were basically rock climbing to get to the top… The level of danger would have never been allowed in Australia.
We then walked up a massive sand dune hill sort of thing and watched the sunset and the amazing red colours over the valley and rock formations. It made for some amazing photos! Here are a select few from my camera, but of course Papa would have many more amazing ones on his!
